Tipo de cambio

Actualmente pago todos los productos que consumo con pesos mexicanos. Vi algún video del "amero", pero me pareció irrelevante.

Muchos mexicanos están alarmados, cómo vamos a compartir una misma moneda con los "malditos gringos" (me olvidé de revisar el tipo de cambio del dólar hoy, ojalá no haya subido mucho).

Las predicciones son divertidas, me parece que sirven para contrastar las ideas con la realidad, el presente con el futuro. En 10 años, no más, regresaremos al "trueque". Utópico, tal vez.

Lo que dota a una lengua de riqueza es la constante creación de neologismos y, más importante, la constante redefinición de sus palabras. Si mi trueque suena utópico, tal vez baste con redefinir mi concepto de trueque (que al final lo mismo es cambiar una vaca por dos costales de maíz; dos costales de maíz por dos costales de oro, o dos costales de oro por mil dólares).

El tipo de cambio actual es simbólico, antes era material (o al revés). El tipo de cambio del futuro será tan simbólico como material. Estoy hablando de la moneda del conocimiento.

En no más de 10 años (y digo esto con una enorme ilusión), sustituiremos el peso, el dólar, el euro, el yuan y el amero por conocimiento y por trabajo, tal como lo hacemos ahora, pero de una manera más explícita. Manos a la obra, lector, ¿qué esperas para comenzar a leer?

Sacrificio

Pienso en la palabra sacrificio, en el concepto detrás de la palabra y, sobre todo, en la acción humana detrás de ambos, que es lo que les da sentido.

Desde las olimpiadas no dejo de pensar en los chinos. Desde que conocí el terrorismo, no dejo de pensar en los mártires que se sucidan para complacer a Dios y no a su sociedad (o al revés).

Los chinos se sacrifican de formas diferentes, creo; muchos también mueren, pero no sé si así.

¿Será que ambos complacen a sus sociedades? La respuesta afirmativa me parecería espeluznante, y me llevaría a otra pregunta: ¿por qué algunas personas conceptualizan el sacrificio constructivamente y algunas otras destructivamente?

Algunos chinos trabajan, como nosotros, "desde el hogar". La diferencia es que ellos viven en las fábricas de las imágenes que en occidente veneramos, mientras nosotros las vendemos por teléfono o por internet, para no perdernos nuestro programa favorito. 

(Experimental) Synthesis of Behavior

I like psychology, among many other sciences. In college we study dozens of psychological theories, systems and applications (therapies).

I may have been a moment too soon ('cause I was low, ooh) when I decided to marry behaviorism (some behaviorists get upset if you call them so. If that's the case just call them "experimental behavior analysts," which is a much simpler name).

Some people like analyses, so they look for the "constitutive parts" of stuff (atoms (protons (quarks (flavors)))). Some people like syntheses, so they look for the "parts constitution" (a flavorous hamburger made of quarks).

I for so long have been a behavior "analyst" (don't call me behaviorist, I may get upset). I want to show some experimental attitude today, so I'll try to be synthetic.

Behavior can be either seen as single response units, each of which gets reinforced by environmental consequences; or as a whole bunch of movements (some call these "behavioral patterns") that happen because of the brain (which happens to be inside).

People that marry the brain don't like our environment so much; people that marry our environment don't like our brains so much. Our brains (for those who love the environment) can be shared and thus become external; our environment (for those who love the brain) can be "absorbed" and thus become internal.

Pretty insightful thoughts the ones I want to share today, huh?

Habits

Procrastination is a bad habit, I feel. Bad habits are those which people label as "bad," in the same sense that good habits are those which people label as "good."

There are "bad" people and "good" people, some people say. There are, also, people whose behavior can be labeled as "good" or as "bad," according to bad and good situations; according to good and bad moods, and according, most important, to people judgments.

Procrastination is the habit of doing everything but the thing one wanted to do in the first place.

I should be watching some good old porn.

Fleas

When I was young, my father taught me how to kill fleas.

In college, a teacher told me that there were several ways of killing fleas (by that time I only knew the one my father had taught me).

Yet another teacher (still in the same college) taught me that one should not marry a single flea-killing method. Even if you did, he taught me even further, you should follow your method's rules, as you could loose sight of which method you were using in the first place.

I would like to teach you this, reader: one should not kill fleas, metaphorically speaking.

Tranquilidad

Antes éramos unos cuántos. Ahora somos muchos. Lo mismo pensaban los unos cuántos que eran antes que los muchos que somos ahora.

Antes no había internet ni televisión, ahora sí. Antes no todos podían saber qué pensaban los unos cuántos que había antes.

Ahora todos podemos saber qué pensamos los muchos que somos ahora (y lo que pensaban algunos de los unos cuántos de antes, también).

Cuando seamos demasiados, dentro de uno, tres o nueve años, seremos unos cuántos los que pensaremos "¡caray, cuántos somos!"

Tongue

Hamburguesas

Me encantaría vender hamburguesas, en vez de comerlas. Una vez lo intenté, pero me fue bastante mal. Mi idea original fue hacer hamburguesas con camarón y queso adentro, vendí tres.

Ahora me gusta el futbol; bueno, siempre me ha gustado. Tengo el proyecto de ser entrenador, que es lo que nos pasa a los que no podemos ser futbolistas.

Me gustaría vender hamburguesas con camarón y queso adentro, sólo para ver si junto el dinero para ser entrenador de futbol.

Me gustaría ser entrenador de futbol, sólo para ver si junto el valor para vender hamburguesas con camarón y queso adentro, me parece una idea original.

About entertainment

Not so long ago, as I was forcing myself to understand evolution theory, I wondered about the role of entertainment as a phylogenetically important event.

Entertainment, the way I see it now, is the nature of evolution itself, probably. It’s what God does when he is not lifting the stone, it’s what he does when he does, and it’s what God does when he forgets, for a while, that there is a stone, that she is God.

Entertainment, entertained reader, is what you like when you don’t want to think about the stones in your life. Entertainment is that thing that doesn’t last long, not as long as our problems, anyway. Entertainment, fair reader, lasting so little and so long, makes us realize that all of our problems have entertaining solutions, it’s just a matter of looking away, in the same sense that God (or me, or you) looks away when he wants to lift or release the stone. Entertainment, stoned reader, is the absence of stones.
