Playing God

When scientists do weird stuff directly or indirectly related with life, people usually say that they're "playing God." People say scientists play God because they're dealing with issues that should only occur naturally, and nature, probably, is a God domain.
Maybe there was no God before we existed. Now, if there is one (or many), and we're all his, her, or their products, it is because someone (if such pronoun can be applied to God) once decided to play God.
Let's play God, why not? Useful things—like us, maybe, if there is a God, if we're useful—may come out of that game.
